Differentiation and Dynamics of Competitiveness Impacts from the EU ETS
We summarise the main factors that differentiate impacts of the EU ETS on profitability and market share. By examining and sampling a range of sectors, we present some simple metrics and indicators to help judge the nature of potential impacts. We also consider briefly the mitigation response to these impacts by sectors, and how they may evolve over time. The broad conclusion confirms the aggregate findings presented in the existing literature - more participating sectors are likely to profit under the current ETS structure out to 2012 at the cost of a modest loss of market share, but this may not hold for individual companies and regions. The period 2008-12 can assist technology investments and diversification, providing the continuation and basic principles of the EU ETS post-2012 is quickly defined and incentives are in place for sectors to pursue this
Importance of the urinary system evaluation in adult patients with spina bifida
The patients with spina bifida may have multisistemic defects, mainly the urinary system. Population of adult
patients with spina bifida has increased in last decades by the improved survival from pediatric age, emerging
the need to know the management of these patients by clinicians, patients and their caregivers. This review
was made with scientific articles available in PubMed database from 1977-2018 using search MeSH terms

urinary system of adult patients with spina bifida and their suggestive management

PLK1 regulates CtIP and DNA2 interplay in long-range DNA end resection
DNA double-strand break (DSB) repair is initiated by DNA end resection. CtIP acts in short-range resection to stimulate MRE11-RAD50-NBS1 (MRN) to endonucleolytically cleave 5'-terminated DNA to bypass protein blocks. CtIP also promotes the DNA2 helicase-nuclease to accelerate long-range resection downstream from MRN. Here, using AlphaFold2, we identified CtIP-F728E-Y736E as a separation-of-function mutant that is still proficient in conjunction with MRN but is not able to stimulate ssDNA degradation by DNA2. Accordingly, CtIP-F728E-Y736E impairs physical interaction with DNA2. Cellular assays revealed that CtIP-F728E-Y736E cells exhibit reduced DSB-dependent chromatin-bound RPA, impaired long-range resection, and increased sensitivity to DSB-inducing drugs. Previously, CtIP was shown to be targeted by PLK1 to inhibit long-range resection, yet the underlying mechanism was unclear. We show that the DNA2-interacting region in CtIP includes the PLK1 target site at S723. The integrity of S723 in CtIP is necessary for the stimulation of DNA2, and phosphorylation of CtIP by PLK1 in vitro is consequently inhibitory, explaining why PLK1 restricts long-range resection. Our data support a model in which CDK-dependent phosphorylation of CtIP activates resection by MRN in S phase, and PLK1-mediated phosphorylation of CtIP disrupts CtIP stimulation of DNA2 to attenuate long-range resection later at G2/M.ISSN:0890-9369ISSN:1549-547
Reduced retroperitoneal lymphadenectomy for clinical stage i non seminomatous germ cell testicular cancer Linfadenectomia retroperitoneal reducida en cancer testicular de celulas germinales no seminomatoso estadio clinico I
OBJECTIVES: The best treatment of clinical stage I non-seminomatous germ cell testicular cancer (NSGCTC) is controversial. Lymphadenectomy allows an adequate retroperitoneal staging and cures up to 70% of patients in pathological stage II. The objective of this study is to analyse our experience in the treatment of this patients with radical orchiectomy and reduced retroperitoneal lymphadenectomy (RRL) as the initial treatment. METHODS: Retrospective study of patients with clinical stage I NSGCTC submitted to radical orchiectomy and RRL at the Urology Service of the University of Chile Clinical Hospital, from January 1990 to December 2000. Inclusion criteria: retroperitoneal staging with computed tomography (CT), normal tumor markers after orchiectomy and testicular and retroperitoneal biopsy informed at our hospital. The following metastatic risk factors in the testicular biopsy were checked: vascular invasion (venous and/or lymphatic), infiltration of tunica albuginea, rete testis,
